Yoga has a special place in my heart. Yoga made me believe that I was capable of more. I know it sounds funny. It sounded funny to me too. Especially because doctors recommended yoga, light stretches and various forms of gentle physical rehab to help me with my chronic pain and I was incredibly resistant. I found physical therapy to be too aggressive. While this might be true, it’s equally true that what physical therapy entailed is what I am doing today.

Nonetheless, once I finally gave in and allowed my body to indulge in some simple stretches. Gentle yoga was a wonderful paradise. The pain, or rather discomfort, which I think might be a better term, was similar to that of getting a tattoo. Only I could control the intensity. But the results were better. I was more flexible and fluid. Not just either my body but in my mind as well.

5 Best and Most Needed Yoga Items on Amazon
I felt lighter and a springy bounce accompanied my step. Yoga changed a lot about how I thought, felt, and treated my body. But there was also something else I loved about yoga: it was a cheap sport. I didn’t need much to be “good” at yoga. I only needed a mat and even then, I could’ve probably used a thick towel.
However, over the years, I’ve fallen in love with a few yoga that I simply cannot live without. Here are my favorite items and why.
Compact and Comfortable Yoga Mat
Can’t do yoga without a yoga mat! This yoga mat on Amazon is thin and lightweight. It doesn’t tear, so it’s perfect for sliding poses or easing into the splits. It’s a perfect mat for beginners and has held up for a long time. This is definitely one of the better mats in this price range.
If you like this mat as much as I do, you can also bundle it on Amazon. The bundle includes the blocks and a simple strap, knocking off most of the necessities listed in this article with one purchase.
Versatile Yoga Blocks
Yoga blocks can be another item that some yogis may not need. Blocks make certain poses more accessible. They can also deepen some stretches, so it’s really all about what you’re looking for. For me, yoga blocks helped me ease and balance into poses like a low lunge. They also helped deepen Some neck and tricep muscle stretches, which did wonders as someone who works from home. These yoga blocks on Amazon are basic and will help you get the job done.
Multi-Looped Yoga Straps
I love yoga straps because they are another tool that can either make a pose more accessible or deepen the stretch. These ropes are great for hamstring stretches and so much more. If you’re a beginner and can’t reach your toes, these straps can help you steady yourself so you can focus on your breath. Over time, you’ll notice that you need to rely on less of the rope and can reach further to your toes without the help. These straps, in particular, are great because there are various different labeled loops to help you over time as you become more flexible.
Yoga Wheel
Some people think a yoga wheel is unnecessary. I think if you work from home, work at a desk, or manage daily pain in your neck and upper back, then a yoga wheel is absolutely necessary. Yoga wheels are like a little massage for your back and crack the deep crannies in your spine. The wheel feels amazing after a long day sitting at the desk. I use this wheel after a restorative yoga session and feel almost brand new afterward.
Yoga Travel Set
I travel a lot. If you follow along with my 21+ content blog articles, then you know I live in the mountains but travel often to the City and other neighboring states. Yoga and working out have become a habit I cannot live without. Even rest days are unbearable and I choose to incorporate an active rest day instead. Traveling is no different.
I squeeze in any and all workouts, regardless of where I am, and this travel yoga set makes it possible. It folds up nice and neat. The mat is not heavy and can fit into my bag without taking much space. It is thin though, but it’s more than enough to get me through while I’m staying at my in-laws or camping.

Luckily, yoga itself is inexpensive. Most can make do with a yoga mat and maybe some blocks or a strap to make some poses more accessible. I do have a few other must-have yoga items I can’t live without, but breaking the bank isn’t necessary.
Over the years, my yoga and home workout collection has grown. What started as a Five Below mat, strap, and blocks turned into a cute little shelving unit with a variety of mats, mat spray cleaners, wheels, and so much more.

Bonus Item
Extra is always better, right? Well, this yoga bag on Amazon is one of my favorite items, but not a necessity at all. Since I travel a lot, I have lots of bags and items around to help ease the nomadic life and this is one of them. It’s comfortable to carry, comes in a variety of colors or designs. The bag design is specifically made to hold a yoga may, making transportation seamless.
