Purple Plat: Indica-Hybrid Weed Strain Info & Review

Purple Plat hybrid weed strain info and review featured.

If you read my articles on the Modus gummies, then you know this month I’ve switched up my routine. Most of what I’ll be reviewing this month is out of my norm. I’m not usually one to so boldly move out of my comfort zone, but I was feeling ambitious. I had originally planned to do the same with my monthly flower haul.

After noticing last month that Tier 1 showcased “parent” strains like OG Kush and OG Runtz, I thought trying some Tier 1 strains would be a great way to help me gauge and review some of these strains, like the Obama Runtz more effectively. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to be in the works for me. When I got to the store, they only had one strain at Tier 1 and there wasn’t even enough for an ounce. So I stuck with Tier 2.

Despite Tier 1 being nearly empty, Tier 2 was fully stocked with 10 strains. With the exception of three strains, the rest were new, and I was stuck. My partner was waiting in the car. The worker was intensely staring at me, waiting for my decisions, and I felt pressured. So basically what I’m trying to say is that my decision was very whimsical this month.

The first strain I picked out was Purple Plat, and the reasoning was quite simple: purple is one of my favorite colors. Although I think the name is slightly misleading — based on looks, anyway. While this strain is definitely pretty to look at, these nuggets don’t have much purple to them. I thought it might have been the way they looked in the store canister, but the pictures I took once I got home confirmed they’re a lightly colored strain.

Of course, choosing a second option is always more difficult so I pretty much embraced the childhood game of “eenie meenie miney mo” to choose the second strain. I placed the canisters on the counter and was out of the store quicker than it took me to decide.

While choosing strains is often tough, picking which one to smoke first usually isn’t. Since purple is my favorite color, I hope you know that’s the one I was going to try first. I barely made it through the door before I was tearing through the Purple Plat baggie.

And let me just tell you — I’m glad that I did. Not only do these bushy Purple Plat nuggets look beautiful, but they smell and taste wonderful, too. These light green buds are sweet tasting with a hint of berry and grape. The flavor is light and airy but still powerful. The exhales smell just as lovely. Underneath the light green, there are a few small hints of purple and it’s covered in shimmering platinum crystals. I love the frosted platinum look and these buds are comparable to the mystifying Firestarter strain

However, while this Purple Plat strain was beautiful and tasted delicious, there was one major drawback. These nuggets were dry. This strain wasn’t not sticky, like Cali Kush for instance. As a result, these nuggets were tough to the touch, and I wasn’t entirely a fan of the way the buds broke up. This also contributed to another major problem: the burn quality wasn’t the best. Joints would turn off every couple of puffs and they canoed terribly. This happened with almost every joint or blunt and the fatter they were, the worse the problem.

It was annoying, no doubt. However, I loved the way it tasted and how it made me feel, so it was a sacrifice I didn’t mind making in the end.

According to Allbud, Purple Plat has 23% THC and while it is an Indica-dominant hybrid, the most I could find was that this is a crossbreed of the more traditional Purple Kush.

I found this strain to give a good balance between a body and head high. I didn’t feel too slowed down, but not overly active either. The Purple Plat was great for chill, go-of-the-flow days. Some common effects of this strain include feeling euphoric, relaxed, and happy. This strain has helped alleviate bipolar, anxiety, depression, headaches, inflammation, muscle spasms, and more.

Purple Plat Personal Rating

Purple Plat Flower Rating and Overview scale.

Sadly, this strain scored one of the lowest scores since I started the rating scale. A big part of this comes from the Quality and Burn scores. The appearance was beautiful. While it’s still hard to beat the Firestarter and Ghostface strains, the Purple Plat came close, scoring an 8 out of 10. The flavor was delicious and distinguishable. I did enjoy the taste of this flower. The aroma was strong and while it may not be for everyone, I enjoyed the occasional whiff of the baggie. As a result, both the aroma and flavor were tied for 7 out of 10.

Now that leaves the Burn, Quality, and High Strength. As I mentioned earlier in the article, this strain was dry and didn’t break up well. The Purple Plat also turned off and canoed often. Considering we easily smoked over 20 joints and most of them canoed, I think it’s safe to say we weren’t the main problem. When strains canoe, the joint or blunt doesn’t burn evenly, which means a lot of weed goes to waste.

Since marijuana is expensive, I don’t want to waste what we have, and I’m sure at least a quarter of Purple Plat went to waste. Therefore, both the Quality and Burn rate received a 4 out of 10. These factors also affected the High Strength. Since some weed was going to waste, I didn’t feel as High as I normally would have. Therefore, the High Strength dropped a little below the average to a 6 out of 10.

Final conclusion: I really wanted to like this strain, especially since the flavor was so good. Unfortunately, though, I don’t think this strain will be suitable for us in the future. Relighting joints and fixing canoes are annoying and wasteful. Maybe in the future I might get an eighth just purely for the flavor, but I don’t think I would include Purple Plat into our regular rotation.

Obviously, I cannot recommend real weed. The laws around MJ are still iffy, but I can recommend hemp products like THCA and Delta 9. Over the years, I’ve tried many derivatives. I’ll share more of experiences as I share more of my journeys, but for now, some of my favorites are THCA, THCO, and THCP. In fact, most of my vapes are THCA or THCO.

Finding powerful derivatives and reputable companies to purchase from hasn’t been easy, but lucky for you, I’ve done the hard part of researching so you don’t have to. Currently, I’ve partnered with The Hemp Doctor to bring you some of the most potent hemp products at a 10% discount, so you can enjoy some benefits I’ve reviewed in this article today by using my link.

Unfortunately, The Hemp Doctor didn’t have the Purple Plat strain specifically. However, if you’d like to dabble with the Kush flowers, the site did have the regular OG Kush strain.  You can also visit the Exclusive Discounts page to view our other partners and their special deals for our viewership. All websites have a variety of other hemp products including gummies, vapes, drinks, edibles, and more. Be sure to consume safely and positive vibes all around!
