When I made this haul, it was my birthday month. This means I had a little extra money in my pocket and an excuse to hustle the store owners into giving me a little extra special of a deal. While the plan worked out perfectly, high me forgot to prep for the content accordingly. I say this because I bought more strains than what I’ll be sharing with you this month, but I blew through some of them too quickly and forgot to share.
Luckily though, I remembered to take pictures and notes for the strains I liked the most, starting with Candy Gas from this haul. When I got to the store, the guy at the counter had his heart set on selling me the Candy Gas. Before I even picked out any strains, he was already mentioning this strain and telling me to a whiff. Only five minutes had passed for me to make my first decision, but he was so intent on having me smell the nugs that the cap was off and the jar was in front of my nose before I realized what was happening.
Needless to say, the man knew what he was talking about. The strain smelled amazing. I asked for half an ounce and was on my way. But what made the entire situation even funnier was the drawing of a gas can he made on the bag. This man was obviously a fan.
Candy Gas Flower Strain Overview

So when I got home, I was a little torn. One strain I picked was on behalf of a close friend since it was their favorite and then I had this new strain, but it was the drawing on the bag that got to me. The people at the shop aren’t very pushy about strains, so when they offer their advice, I tend to take it and I’m glad I did.
The Candy Gas smelled the strongest, and it tasted the strongest. It was delicious. The nugs were small with deep purples and dark green patches throughout. They had dark orange hairs and yellow trichomes. I enjoyed the sweet, candy-like aroma they had. Candy Gas also had a sweet flavor and exhale to it and I understood why the man at the store recommended it.
Candy Gas Is Crossbreed of Kandy Kush and OG #18
As I did the research to learn more about the strain, I understood why I enjoyed it so much. According to Sativa University, Candy Gas is an even hybrid and has about 20% THC. However, there is a little discrepancy online about how to breed this strain, but most sources say Candy Gas is created by breeding two other hybrids:
- Gelato 41
- Runtz
In addition to the traditional research profiles I’ve been reviewing all along, I’ve decided it was time to start including some terpenes, as well. After several discussions with others in the cannabis industry, I’ve realized terpenes are more important than I thought and as I’m getting more familiar with the terps, I am realizing why some strains stick out more to me than others.Â
When it comes to the Candy Gas, this strain contains the Caryophyllene, Limonene, and Myrcene terps. The Caryophyllene has a spicy or peppery flavor and can also have anti-inflammatory properties. The Limonene terpene is known for its citrusy flavor and can also have antioxidants, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.
Myrcene has an earthy flavor and is known for reducing inflammation and chronic pain, as well as producing indica-like effects. All these properties together make this strain ideal for treating depression, fatigue, and anxiety. This strain also increase focus, energy, and promote feeling uplifted.
Candy Gas Personal Rating
I thought the Candy Gas nugs were pretty. The strains from the last haul, which were Green Crack and Haze, had lighter colors. So when I opened this bag, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw some darker colors. While I did find these nugs pretty, I had another strain on me on that had even more purples. As a result, Candy Gas scored a 7.5 out of 10 for Appearance. The Quality also scored a 7.5. For smaller nugs, there were a few more stems than I expected and this strain was a little on the stickier/gooier side.
As for the Aroma, Burn, Flavor, and High Strength, these qualities scored an 8 out of 10. The aroma and flavor was strong, sweet, and delicious. I received compliments just from the exhales alone. They burned evenly in cones and paper with minimal issues aside from some resin build up. Plus, a few hits of this strain had me feeling nice for a few hours.
Candy Gas Final Conclusion
In conclusion, I really enjoyed this strain. I actually intended to purchase Candy Gas again when I returned for my next haul but they were already sold out so I’m guessing many of the other regulars enjoyed it as well. Overall though, I found this to be a tasty and strong strain that I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for in the future.
