There’s no denying the Universe works in mysterious ways. The two weeks before I purchased this haul, I heard a lot about the GG4 strain. Initially, I didn’t think I knew anything about the GG4 strain, but Google told me GG4 is actually Gorilla Glue, which I’ve had in vape form a few years ago.
The GG4 was recommended by a close friend, and until this point, I don’t remember seeing it in the store. Yet, when I got to the Tier 2 table, there it was, right in the middle. So of course, the moment I saw the jar there on the table I had to get half an ounce. I needed to see for myself just how good the strain was and it was an opportunity to share within the canna community to get feedback from a fellow advocate.
If you read last week’s article, then you know the accompanying strain for this haul was the Candy Gas, which was honestly vastly different from the GG4. From looks, smell, taste and effects, the two strains really couldn’t be any different.
Gorilla Glue Overview

I’m not sure what I expected though — the Gorilla Glue strain was fire. The nuggets were tiny, which I didn’t anticipate. Some of the other strains lately were big nuggets and on the denser side. The GG4 was small and fluffier. The nuggets were a deep dark green, with a little purple and yellow orangish hairs.
I was warned beforehand that this was an indica-heavy strain, so I knew to smoke it closer to bedtime. The strain did help me unwind, but I didn’t think it made me stuck. I did smoke it a few times in the afternoon and was still able to get my to-do list done.
GG4 Is an Indica-Hybrid
According to Leafly, GG4 is a hybrid with about 60% of the strain containing indica properties. This strain has about 20% THC and is created by crossbreeding:
- Chem’s Sister
- Sour Dubb
- Chocolate Diesel
In addition to the traditional research profiles I’ve been reviewing all along, I’ve decided it was time to start including some terpenes, as well. After several discussions with others in the cannabis industry, I’ve realized terpenes are more important than I thought and as I’m getting more familiar with the terps, I am realizing why some strains stick out more to me than others.
When it comes to the GG4, this strain contains the Caryophyllene, Limonene, Myrcene terps, interestingly, the same as the Candy Gas strain. The Caryophyllene has a spicy or peppery flavor and can also have anti-inflammatory properties. The Limonene terpene is known for its citrusy flavor and can also have antioxidants, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.
Myrcene has an earthy flavor and is known for reducing inflammation and chronic pain, as well as producing indica-like effects. All these properties together make this strain ideal for treating stress, pain, and anxiety. This strain also produces feelings of relaxation, sleepiness, and hunger.
GG4 Personal Rating
And now it’s time for the ratings. These GG4 nugs were pretty on par with most of the rest Appearance wise. Nice dark greens and purples, I just didn’t expect the nugs to be so tiny. Either way though, for appearances, the GG4 scored an 8 out of 10. The Aroma and Quality also scored an 9 out of 10. I expected the Aroma to be stronger, especially since the Flavo, which scored a 9, was pretty strong. I did find a few seeds though, which isn’t a total complaint because I can give them to a grower if I want to.
The Burn earned an 8.5, there was minimal problems and it did break up into fine grinds. As for the High Strength, that scored a 9 out of 10. This was definitely a good strain for right before bed.
GG4 Final Conclusion
I would definitely purchase this strain again. In fact, I purchased it several times and not just for me. This strain is a favorite of a close friend of mine, so you have not just my word, but theirs too.
