Hi, my gardening friends! My name is Misty and I’m the Crazy Canna Cat Lady to 12 kitties and 2 pups. At the tender age of 11, I lost my mom to a brain aneurysm right in front of my eyes. To say it was traumatic is putting it lightly. I had to leave my childhood home that I knew and loved and move in with my dad and stepmom. My life was turned upside down. My life of fighting depression and anxiety had just begun.
I was forced to attend therapy and counseling for years, only to not find any help and be put on medication after medication by each different doctor. I was in my twenties and on a slew of medicines that could fill up a gallon-sized Ziplock baggie. I felt out of it and not myself for a while… like years. I still had roller-coaster emotions that I didn’t understand or know how to heal. I was having major highs and lows, and I didn’t know how to control it.
I moved out of my dad’s house when I was 16 years old, and I took my first hit of cannabis a year later with my boyfriend just for fun. I started seeing that the high took away my depressive thoughts and anxious feelings. I wanted more of that feeling. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety at age 18 and was put on anti-depressants to dull the pain. All it did was make me feel like a crying mess of emotions, and I hated that feeling.
On my way to college one morning, I was rear-ended. I saw a pain management doctor and was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Again, more pills to take. And this time, pain pills were introduced, but I did not want to be on pain medication forever. I again turned to cannabis for pain management. Over the years, I’ve been diagnosed with more illnesses than I care to admit for my age, and I’ve always found cannabis to help the most.
So, my cannabis journey began. I started smoking by myself every day after work for that relief. I’ve always been a flower-smoking girlie since I started smoking. It wasn’t until June 2024 that a cruise was gifted to my husband and me, so we had to go. It was a cruise to Alaska. I knew I would be flying and crossing borders and going through security checks and TSA at the airport. That meant I couldn’t bring my pipe and flower with me. I had to find an alternative.
The first alternative I could think of was a vape. No one would know it was cannabis oil and not tobacco. I had my Smoke Buddy with me, so I smoked my vape in the bathroom and blew my smoke into my Smoke Buddy to cover the smell. While we were docked in Alaska, I took a hike to a local dispensary to get more vape oil and a few edibles. Let me just say… Alaskan Cannabis… mmm, mmm, mmm! It’s phenomenal!
When we returned home, I was intrigued by the edible I had tried in Alaska. I visited our local vape shop and bought a few to try. I fell in love. The fact that I could give my lungs a break and it would be so discreet to eat my edible, and go about my day. I was hooked. I was curious to find more products to try.
I stumbled across a gardening mom on social media who was promoting a few different edible companies. I ordered from her links and was shocked and immediately addicted when I received my edibles to try. I’ve tried everything from chocolates, rice crispy treats, gummies, beverages, and more.
