Wow, what a year it’s been. I started this blog, early to mid-summer and I’m blown away by how quickly it’s blossomed. In part, I owe it all to my partner, Misty. When I started, I was just a one-man crew, publishing about two articles a week. While the growth was still impressive, once she came on board, the blog soared.
This has been an important mission for me for several reasons. I’ve always wanted to run a successful blog. Over the years, I’ve built several websites, all in different niches, and didn’t see the results or success that I craved. Then a few years ago, when weed became legalized in the state I was currently living in, jobs for marijuana reviewers became available. Due to the timing, I was unsuccessful at landing a spot in the community, but it got me thinking: maybe I could start my own weed blog of sorts.

Of course, I put the idea on the back burner. Weed was only legal in a few states and the drug still had a lot of negative stigma surrounding it. But the idea kept popping back into my head over and over again. Originally, I tried to take the safe route and kept an eye out for other openings.
Until one day, I said enough was enough. I was trying new products, products that weren’t as popular online and didn’t have much information on them. I noticed more and more people becoming weary of hemp and its derivatives, despite the compounds being a wonderful alternative.
And so I decided to jump headfirst and work toward breaking the stigma. I’m the type of person who likes to have as much information as possible so I can make decisions that best suit me. I’ve come to learn that not all weed products are the same and hemp derivatives can certainly get me elevated if I know what I’m looking for.
Essentially, we wanted to be your guinea pigs. We wanted to take the guesswork out of trying new products. We understand the weariness and the concern these products can bring forth and we’re here to help you make the best decisions for yourself and your needs.
Misty’s Recap
Jaye and I mesh together so well even though we are over 1,200 miles apart. Together we have made High Vibes Healthy Lives what it is today. I couldn’t be more proud of the both of us. In September 2024, I joined HVHL when Jaye saw the need to add someone who could also write and review different Canna products.
I went on an Alaskan cruise in June 2024, where I quickly realized that I couldn’t travel with my flower and dry pipe I had grown accustomed to for the past 20 years. During that time, I branched out and tried vape pens and edibles for the trip and I loved how I could give my lungs a break and still have the needed effects. Over the past 4 months, I have tried several alternatives to just flower. I’ve tried everything from gummies, caramels, and chocolates to drinks, pre-rolls, and even Cannabutter.

Now we only have about six months worth of content and products to sift through this year. However, choosing our favorite products was pretty easy. Now that both Misty and I know what we’re looking for in products, have a better understanding of the compounds that work best for us, and know what symptoms we’re hoping to manage, choosing products has become a lot easier.
Jaye’s Recommendations
Misty and I are in this process together, no doubt. But we also have wildly different tastes when it comes to some products. I love my Sativa products, while she enjoys Indica. I love my vapes, while she’ll often opt for an edible instead. Just add that to another list of reasons why I asked her to join me on this journey. So without further ado, my top two cannabis recommendations of 2024.
Russian Cream by High Leaf
Vape pens are one of my absolute favorite ways to consume cannabis. They’re small, discreet, taste good, get me high, and these 8g High Leaf pens can last me just about the whole month. I’ve tried many of their flavors, but the Russian Cream was my all time favorite. All the High Leaf pens are impressive.
They’re compact, powerful, and rarely get clogged. However, some flavorings are stronger than others, as was the case with the Russian Cream. The Russian Cream Sativa strain tasted so delicious and everyone commented on the exhales as well. While I enjoyed most of the High Leaf pens, flavor wise, the Russian Cream knocked it out of the park.
Utokia Moods and Actives
Choosing between the Utokia Moods and Actives was tough which is why I decided to make them tied for second place. Utokia has rapidly become one of our favorite companies and the backstory behind how they came to be aligned very much with ours. Most of their products were absolutely amazing, but for me personally the Moods and Actives were the best ones and the edibles I took most often.

With a kid and several WFH gigs, along with an intensive workout regime, my days often feel like they’re jammed packed and I can’t afford to slow down. Third, we want to attend Canna conventions to get our name out there and learn more about the Canna community. Speaking of the Canna community, we would love to plan a Summer trip across the country to visit all of the great individuals we’ve met over the past several months or meet up in one central location. We’re not sure of the complete details now, but we’re putting it on the schedule.
