Northern Lights: Indica Strain Info & Review

Finding a fire strain seemed to be a difficult task the last few months. Even if I was interested in sharing my experiences, they seemed to become unimpressive with each visit. That all seemed to change this month.

The weed store in the City threw a few major sales, which led to me purchasing the Sauce vapes. Along with that purchase, I bought two new strains, essentially tapping into my old routine again. The store claimed that while they were being sold at Tier 2 prices, these strains were of much better quality and more along the lines of a Tier 4.

At first, I was suspicious. I’m well aware of some of the gimmicks at this point. However, I was in for a major surprise. Both strains were absolutely delicious, but let’s talk about my least favorite: the Northern Lights

Northern Lights Indica Overview

THC: 18%Effects: relaxation, hunger, and sleepiness
Strain: IndicaGood for: anxiety, stress, pain
Terpenes: Limonene, Caryophyllene, and Myrcene

Don’t get me wrong, the Northern Lights strain was amazing. The buds were big and dense, with hints of oranges and pale yellows. The smell was sweet, and I enjoyed opening the bag every time I was ready to roll up. The strain broke up nicely too, and I rarely had any issues regardless of how I smoked the strain.

The difference simply boiled down to taste, and I enjoyed the other strain just a bit more. I also really enjoyed the effects. I didn’t feel bogged down by this strain, which is of course crucial to me being a single mom and all.

Northern Lights Is a Afghani & Thai Crossbreed

Even though I didn’t think the strain slowed me down, I was surprised to discover that Northern Lights is a pure indica strain with about 18% THC. According to Leafly, it’s a crossbreed between:

  • Afghani
  • Thai

However, with that being said, I’ve also come to learn that the terpenes in the strains are equally, if not more, important than the strain classification.

So I also took this opportunity to look a little more into the terpenes of the Northern Lights, which also led to some interesting discoveries. Some terpenes in this strain are Limonene, Caryophyllene, and Myrcene

Myrcene has an earthy flavor and is known for reducing inflammation and chronic pain, as well as producing indica-like effects. The Limonene terpene is known for its citrusy flavor, which I thought was pretty evident in the Northern Lights, and can also have antioxidants, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.

The Caryophyllene has a spicy or peppery flavor and can also have anti-inflammatory properties. All these properties together make this strain ideal for treating stress, anxiety, and pain. It also produces feelings of relaxation, hunger, and sleepiness.

Northern Lights Personal Rating

Northern Lights Flower Rating and Overview.

Now it’s time for the rating section and I’m really excited to break the scales down for you. I haven’t been this excited about a strain since the Ghostface last year. From visuals to scent and taste, I enjoyed everything about the Northern Lights. When it comes to the Burn and Appearance, this strain earned a 9 out of 10.

The nuggets were beautifully colored and thick. The Burn was smooth, and I had no problems with canoe-ing. As for Aroma, Flavor, and Quality, the Northern Lights strain earned a solid 8 out of 10. Both the Aroma and Taste had a sweet and earthy flavor that was super strong. The Quality was also really good, with few stems or seeds getting in the way of the breakup process.

As for the High Strength, I think I can agree this strain was meant to be at a higher Tier. A few puffs into a joint had me feeling wonderful. The High was definitely strong, and it came on quickly.

Final Conclusion

Overall, I would 100% purchase this strain again and recommend it to others. The Northern Lights is one of the top strains I’ve had of 2025 thus far. The taste alone was amazing, but the High was on point. This will definitely be a strain that I keep an eye out for during future visits.
