Last month on my usual weed run, the store in the City didn’t have much to offer. The store I go to usually has a wide selection of marijuana-friendly products, ranging in affordability too. I’m cheap. Plus, an ounce can last me about six weeks, so I always go straight for the $100-ounce section. This time around, though, they only had two options. While their lack of options was disappointing, it also made my decision a lot easier.
The flower was weighed out, packaged into two large baggies, and inserted into a shopping bag, and I was on my merry way in less than ten minutes. The drive home and looking for parking in the City took longer than that, unfortunately. Once I got to the neighborhood and parked, I skipped to the house. Containing the excitement for my new batch was difficult.
The store I bought from relocated months ago and I couldn’t find it. This July run was my second run after finding the store again, which was thrilling because nowhere else could I get an ounce for a hundred dollars. That also meant that I didn’t have to stretch out my smoke sessions anymore. I was free to try my purchases as soon as I got home, which is exactly what I did.
White Runtz Is a Zkittlez & Gelato Hybrid

I like to save the best for last, so between the two new strains I got, White Runtz looked the least exciting. That’s not to say it wasn’t appetizing, because it surely was. White Runtz came in small, denser little nuggets, especially compared to its counterpart that I also got that month: Rainbow Runtz. The nugs were covered in soft pale orange hairs and yellow and white crystal trichomes of the White Runtz strain sparkled, even in the dim room.
There were a few little deep speckles of purple and blue, but for the most part, this strain had lighter colors. Even the thick green nugs were a lighter shade compared to the Rainbow Runtz. It’s clear how the strain earned its name. I took pictures with the macro mode, but I feel like my phone almost made it look cartoonish.
According to Leafly, White Runtz has a higher THC level, coming in at around 18%. It’s a hybrid strain, created by combining:
- Gelato (one of my all-time favs and is a 50/50 hybrid) and
- Zkittlez (another good indica-heavy hybrid strain).
White Runtz Overview
While it’s a hybrid, it does have more calming effects since it’s more Indica-heavy. This strain is supposed to be relaxing and give a tingling sensation, which I can agree with. It is also a good strain for people managing stress, chronic pain, or anxiety.
The weed was a little stemmy and while it wasn’t difficult to break up per se, it did break into bigger pieces than I would’ve preferred. That’s okay though, because it was a smooth hit straight out the gate. It didn’t canoe like other strains, meaning one side of the joint didn’t burn faster than the other and it burned evenly around, nor did it turn off often. Resin didn’t build at the tip like with some sticky weed and I didn’t have itchy throat.
The flavor was soft, though. It wasn’t super noticeable or overpowering, but it certainly didn’t taste like backyard dirt weed. The smoke had a subtle, sweet undertone, with a hint of sour tang to it. The flavor was a little underwhelming to be honest, especially since I had a sister (or cousin?) strain next to me.

Overall, I think I would give this strain 6 nuggets out of 10. For cheaper weed, it’s definitely good and better than some of the more expensive strains I purchased in the past. It gets the job done and lasts for a decent amount of time. Although I think it’s also worth mentioning, maybe because of the way it breaks up or something, but half an ounce of White Runtz didn’t seem to last me as long as it usually would. However, to me, that’s still not a complete deal breaker because I still was able to make the ounce stretch a little over a month.
