I was in the mood to change up my usual dinner routine, but I didn’t have many staples to choose from. With honey, soy sauce, and some garlic as my main items, my recipe options were limited. Surprisingly, that was okay because Google came up with a few recipe ideas that really helped me in a pinch. Over the years, I’ve adapted this recipe, and it’s just so good. Although it’s a honey garlic chicken, it closely resembles General Tso chicken.
Honey Garlic Chicken
Ingredients
- 1 lb chicken breast cubed Cal: 490; Carb: 0g; Fat: 14g; Pro: 92g
- 1/2 cup flour (to coat) Cal: 228; Carb: 48g; Fat: 1g; Pro: 6g
- 2 tbsp olive oil Cal: 80; Fat: 9g
Sauce
- 1/2 cup Honey Cal: 515; Carb: 140g; Fat: 0g; Pro: 1g
- 2 tbsp Low Sodium Soy Sauce Cal: 21
- 2 tbsp Vinegar Cal: 5
- 6 Garlic Cloves (Measure with your heart) Cal: 27
- 2 tbsp Garlic Powder Cal: 19
Instructions
- Cube chicken breasts into desired size.
- Coat chicken evenly in flower. You can shake it in a container or use a large baggie.
- Heat oil and fry the floured chicken in the oil over medium flame until golden brown.
- While the chicken cooks, in a separate bowl, mix the honey, soy sauce, vinegar and garlics together.
- Once the chicken is full cooked, add the sauce into the frying pan and stir chicken. Cook for a few minutes to thicken the sauce.
- Turn off heat and serve.
